Eisenstadt
Eisenstadt, the small capital of Burgenland, is dominated by the magnificent Esterházy Palace, where Joseph Haydn served as court music director and composed many of his most important works. The Haydn Museum and the Jewish Museum in the historic ghetto quarter recount the city's eventful history. As the gateway to Lake Neusiedl, Central Europe's only steppe lake, Eisenstadt is also a starting point for cycling tours through Burgenland's expansive wine landscape.
