Fulda
Located in eastern Hesse on its namesake river, at the edge of the Rhoen mountains, Fulda is a city with a long ecclesiastical tradition. Fulda is a magnificent baroque city with an imposing cathedral housing the tomb of St Boniface, Apostle of the Germans. The baroque city centre with its palace, orangery and Paulustor gate ranks among the best-preserved of its kind in Germany. As the gateway to the Rhön Biosphere Reserve, Fulda also offers nature lovers attractive excursions into the surrounding upland landscape.
