Szeged
Located in southern Hungary near the Serbian border on the Tisza river. Szeged, the 'City of Sunshine', dazzles with its imposing Votive Church and a magnificent city centre rebuilt with grand flair after the catastrophic 1879 flood. The city is the home of world-famous Hungarian paprika and delights visitors with a rich culinary tradition, including the celebrated Halászlé fish soup. The international open-air festival held each summer in Dóm Square draws audiences from across Europe to the banks of the Tisza river.
