Slovakia

Located in western Slovakia, just about 50 km northeast of Bratislava. Trnava bears the nickname 'Little Rome' as the city boasts an unusual density of churches and monasteries that testify to its importance as a ecclesiastical centre during the Habsburg era. Slovakia's oldest university was founded here in 1635 and continues to shape the city's cultural and intellectual life today. The surrounding Małé Karpaty wine region produces excellent wines that can be sampled in the cosy wine cellars of the old town on a relaxed evening.
