Ventspils
Located on Latvia's western coast on the Baltic Sea. Ventspils captivates with one of the cleanest beaches in the Baltic states, which has repeatedly received the Blue Flag award and invites surfing and kiteboarding along the wind-swept Baltic coastline. The Livonian Order castle at the city harbour is one of the best-preserved medieval monuments in Latvia and today houses a fascinating city museum. The city presents itself in a playful and colourful manner through its famous cow parade of painted fibreglass cattle and a lovingly designed narrow-gauge railway open-air museum that keeps the region's industrial history alive.
